Last week we spoke about how to begin shortlisting the kind of wall décor you would like to have in your space. And in this second part of the series we are talking about the various categories you could think of, once you have a broad idea of the theme, colour scheme and budget.
Prints are an easy way to bring out a particular theme or colour you have in mind. These could be framed or printed and mounted on canvas. You could take even frame a piece of fabric that has your favourite print or motif or pattern.
Working with multiple small prints to make a collection or series is a great idea!
Limited edition prints of popular paintings can also be considered.
2. 3D Panels , Masks/Murals, Lamps
If you wish to include texture in your wall décor, murals and 3D panels are a good choice. The choice of material is wide – terracotta, bamboo, acrylic, wood and even ceramic panels are available.
Metal and wooden masks collected from your travel are also a good option. A good collage of these would give a stunning look.
Wall panels with t-light/candle holders are available is many different styles. Apart from adorning your wall, they would also be a dramatic lighting option while entertaining guests in the evening.
3) Original Art on Canvas
You could also visit a local or online art gallery to source some original art work on canvas. Your budget would determine the choice of artists and the size of the canvas.
4) Family Memories
If you are the kind who treasures memories, framing up some great moments with family is an easy option. Start by choosing the photos, then work on the size and frames depending on where you would be hanging this. More on this in our next blog post!
Mirrors of various sizes, framed or fragmented, would spruce up the space by multiplying the light and spatial effect. You could check on local stores to source a good mirror art.
Another popular option is to hang some of your favourite plates or china in the form of a good collage! You would need to start by procuring plate hangers.
